Jaap and Machteld, founders of Loudness, have gone and done it - they're leaving to explore Southern Europe in their campervan. (How about that logo! 😍) As of March '23, they're living the life and deserve it. The good news is: we can follow their journey online, so go Like, Follow and Subscribe to Living in a Birdhouse.
Jaap en Machteld's genes will always be part of Loudness, literally; We're thrilled that their son Pepijn is staying on board! He will remain the friendly face you see when you walk in the door. And with 8 years of experience, he's ready to take up the mantle and carry on Jaap's legacy. And stupid jokes.
So Loudness has effectively become a sister company of Mengwerk, Hilversum. Led by David and Arvid.
Big change? No. And yes.
Mengwerk and Loudness turn out to be a remarkable match, with extremely similar core values:
Make it sound (& look!) better
It really is all about the craft. Always ask the right questions; Can it sound (& look!) better? What do we need to do to make it sound (& look!) better? What do we need to buy to make it sound & look better? Who do we have to convince that it deserves to sound & look better? Who in production can we help to make it sound (& look!) better? These may seem like obvious questions, but this mission determines every move and decision, and really is the key binding factor of the two companies.
Make it easier
We will always be part of the solution for our clients. Not the bringer of problems. Our workflows and tech will always be focussed on making the experience of our clients easier and care free. Cut the crap, fix it, and get it done.
Make it fun
Work is such a big part of our lives, it has be fun. It has to be be about people. And growth, and fulfilment and all that stuff, but it definitely has to be fun.
Well, basically, there's just more of the good stuff! More nice people, more skills and services, more fun.
Being backed by a slightly bigger machine comes with some nice advantages. With a dedicated team of planners we'll bring some smoothness to project management, and a littke ease of mind for the Loudness audio and grading talents :)
With a slightly different portfolio, set of clients and expectations, our intention is not to fully merge our audio and grading teams, but instead keep the focus.
There'll be great opportunities for the audio and grading teams of the two companies to learn from each other and exchange knowledge and workflows. As we always say, Amsterdam can use a bit of Hilversum from time to time. Just as Hilversum can learn a thing or two from Amsterdam.
Let's make things beautiful again!
Of so.
